2010 Asbestos Awareness - ½ Day Course

Course Objectives:

To provide asbestos awareness training for trades such as maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters painters and decorators where they are liable t be exposed to asbestos.

This will help supervisors and operators to identify hazards and help companies met their legal duties under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.

Course Content:

  • History of Asbestos Products
  • Types of Asbestos, where it can be found, and what does it look like
  • How asbestos can affect your health; including the added dangers of smoking
  • Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006
  • What the law requires you to do and what work you are allowed to do by law
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)and Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • DVD Asbestos - The Facts
  • Approved Code of Practice on Asbestos
  • HSE booklet - Asbestos Essentials
  • Recent HSE prosecutions

Who Should Attend?
Operatives, Supervisors and Managers who undertake construction projects or refurbishment works that may lead to exposure from asbestos. This is particularly relevant to trades such as maintenance staff, electricians, plumbers, gas fitters painters and decorators.

Duration: 9.00am - 12.30pm

Cost: £60 + Vat per person. This includes Course Notes & Certificate.

Qualifications/Certification:
Attendance Certificate issued upon satisfactory completion.

This course will help companies to fulfil their duties in line with the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006.

‘Asbestos essentials’ is an HSE task manual which contains guidance and task sheets on working safely with asbestos. The manual is aimed at all workers who may come into contact with asbestos, including electricians, builders, plumbers, carpenters etc. It will be useful to employees, the self-employed and managers.
